Laila Jakob ist saudiarabisch-deutscher Herkunft und wurde in Stuttgart geboren. Sie lebt und arbeitet heute in Köln. Hier arbeitete sie als Cutterin beim Musikfernsehsender Viva-TV. Seit 1999 arbeitet sie in Flugzeugen als Stewardess. Aufgrund ihrer Arbeit, ist sie sehr viel gereist, sie hat sich künstlerisch aber auch mit ihrer Heimatstadt Köln beschäftigt, allerdings ohne bisher den Kölner Dom zu malen. Den Dom malen Alle, sagt sie. Aufgrund von persönlichen Vorlieben oder auch Abneigungen, hat sie sich auch mit Persönlichkeiten wie Muammar Gaddafi, Barack Obama, Donald Trump und ihrem Lieblingsmusiker und Ex-Affäre Iggy Pop, auseinandergesetzt.
Ein Buch hat sie auch veröffentlicht : Wir haben keine Fallschirme an Bord ( Zoe Santana ). Sie beschreibt Dinge, die sie auch malt, zum Beispiel, das Leben in der Überflussgesellschaft Las Vegas und das Kontrastleben von Armut in Haiti.
Sie produziert auch eigene Musikstücke, die ihre Stimmung ausdrücken. Gemalt hat sie schon immer, allerdings in den letzten 2 Jahren extrem viel. In den Bildern, sagt sie, habe sie ihren eigenen Stil gefunden.
Ihr nächstes Projekt ist eine große King-Kong-Statue, das Empire State Building mit einem Gorilla oben drauf. Natürlich etwas kosmopolitisches, und mit Herrn Trump hat sie auch noch nicht abgeschlossen!
